New in 2022, Driving for Dyslexia is proud to have established a partnership with Orton-Gillingham International for training teachers in the Orton-Gillingham (O/G) method of literacy instruction. This partnership allows us to train as many as 30 teachers at one time, in a cost-effective manner. The excellent Yoshimoto O/G training that is provided through OGI gives teachers the skills to effectively use the O/G method with a whole class, in small groups, or one- on- one with students needing individual intervention. Training is fully funded by our donors, with no cost to educators or their schools.
We held our first large training class in June 2022, with OGI instructor Mary Binnion, at Gray Road Christian School, and it was a huge success!
We are grateful to the many donors, both private and corporate, as well as our partners who have provided space, lunches for our trainees, technical support, and volunteer hours to make our training possible. It is our goal to increase the number of trainings that we host each year, until every teacher has the skills to teach every child to read!
